Thump Thump Thump while turning

When making a left at low speeds, I hear a light "Thump" noise which is rythmic and repetitive coming from my passenger side wheel well.

It's not very loud, and actually I thought I imagined it the first time I heard it. But while making a U-Turn today, it was very noticable.

What would cause this??

And I know this is a very general question, and it could probably be many things, but just give me your best shot. (and yes, I did search)

do you have aftermarket springs/struts? Does the sound occur when you're not moving?

Sounds like the cv boot has been torn for a while and the joint has dried out. Just might have to replace that axle

If you get a thumping sound when turning the steering wheel (moving or not), it might be a worn strut bearing. It's this white disc which fits into the strut mount. $16 each from the dealer.

I had this sound.

I replaced the pass. axle and no more noise. The boots weren't torn or anything so I don't know why they went bad. Too much horsepower I guess!

Your clue here is that it's rythmic and repetitive.

Rythmic means it's rotating mass that causing it.
Repetitive - It's in a fixed location.

Lets look at what rotates.

1) CV joints
2) Brake Rotors/hub assy.
3) Wheel bearings
4) Tires

Check your lug nuts to make sure there all snug then....

I'd start with the tires. Rotate front to back and see if it goes away. Check them for sidewall bubbles. You may have a broken belt in a tire also. Usually you can't really see that, sometimes it will cause the tread to shift slightly.

I have the same problem. It's more noticeable when someone is sitting on the passenger side. Driving by myself, it doesn't happen much. The noise occurs when making left turns. It seems the noise gets louder the more weight is shifted to the front passenger side. I rotated tires but the noise is still there. I'm thinking its the wheel bearing or the axle. BTW, I bought my car from a salvage yard so I'm still trying to nail down my suspension problems
