Front Sway Bar Questions

Has anyone with a GXE/GLE swapped in a SE front sway bar? How much difference did it make?

Or has anyone tried a 5th Gen SE front sway bar? I'm curiouse if it would line up.. i know its thicker, but would the mounts be in the right place?

Hmm... I didn't know the SE had a thicker bar? How much larger is it? If so I might just have to get a hold on one of those and the Energy Suspension bushings as well...

WOW - A great idea! You would need to replace the 2 main bushings for sure because the bar is thicker. The end link bushings are the same for all models, but you may as well replace them as well.

You know I don't exactly know what the difference is between the 4th Gen SE and GXE/GLE sway bar, but I know when you look it up online it asks whether you have and SE or a GLE/GXE, but I believe the bushings Energy sells are 20MM and don't appear model specific.

Maybe they really are the same, does anyone know?

On two different parts websites it differentiates between the actual sway bar and the bushings from SE to GXE/GLE including different prices, but the mounts are the same... I wonder why Energy only has one bushing... maybe it's only for the SE, or maybe the stock bushings only vary in flexibility...

I'm a little confused.

I recently installed both the end-link and mount bushings from Energy Suspension (my originals were worn out) and they weren't model specific. One thing to remember is that a bigger front sway bar could be bad for the handling. It would probably reduce some front body-roll but it could also increase the number one problem with the Max's handling. Understeer. The best thing you could do is install subframe connectors to keep the chassis from twisting. I haven't put them in yet but I do plan to. Look them up in the search to read about their effect on handling and ride. They aren't too expensive either.

Yeah, I know about the sub-frames... i plan i getting them

i would trade better transitional response for a little more understeer. Personally, I don't spend much time at the limit, but the amount the car sways in normal driving is a annoying.

Since i can pick up a used SE sway bar for $40 i think its well worth looking into... I might just order it while I'm doing the rest of my suspension and be a guinea pig.

If you really want to gain transitional response, reduce body roll and eleminate some understeer all at once, add an RSB.

I have an FSTB and I'm getting an RSB... I'm just researching for the future.

Guys I really dont think theres any difference in the sway bar. In my FSM on page FA-25 it states the front stabilizer bar as "ALL" under "applied models". It differentiates rear and front springs between "SE" and "NON SE". The shocks are even the same.

Thanks for your help, I guess the parts site just differentiate because they assume they are different... I guess energy bushings should help a little.

Just out of curiosity, does it say if the bushings are the same? They were a couple dollars different in price from SE to GLE/GXE.
