the price is pretty high for it to have no options. if i were you i would look around a bit more. i got my 96' GLe with leather, cd, moonroof. and everything else with 78k miles for only 8400$. if you cant find anything else just get that, but i would shop some more or try to find a 5speed. i didnt buy one and not a day goes by that i regret it. but i love my car

We share the same fate! Except I paid 10K for my 96 GLE! I did only have 65k miles on it. Get that MAX! Die trying to get a 5 Speed SE w/leather. I'm sure everyone will agree with me that this is the prefered version if racing/peformance is your style. If luxury is your style than GLE is for you. However if you get leather on the SE I think a sense of luxury is added. Not to mention you can always upgrade your interior with dash/shift **** kits and what not.

I'd prolly shop around a bit more to find something that's not so minima-ish

I'm happy I waited....a fully-loaded 5-speed SE fell into my lap after a while (well...fell into a dealership by me at least)...only luxurious feature I dont have from the GLEs is the sloshy suspension! (Well...and the chrome & honeycombs...hehe)

This is a nice price for a 97 go for it. Also you want the gxe so you can add you personal touch to it.

She's a keeper! Making an effort to learn more about cars. that's very cool.
My wife seems to have a learning problem - every time she says - "ooh... that's a cute car, what is it?"
It's ALWAYS a Mazda Miata. You'd think she'd recognize them by now. I told her, if you think it's cute, it'll be a Miata.

i can't get a 5spd, my mom knows how fast maximas are already, it's for my own safety i guess. trust me, i've tried everything. we found a 95SE 5-speed blue, one minor dent, 97k miles, for $5500 but now she regrets not getting it.. she now knows how expensive maximas can get.

well, we're getting it. i'll take some pics and take my first ride in it (i've driven one, but not for my own pleasure ) today.

woohoo

like i said, kelly blue book is $10,600 .. so $6,800 isnt bad.

also, i just found out that it needs 100k miles service.. about 600 bucks right there in "ball bearing(s)" (sorry dont know exact name), minor brake work (probably pads), and a new timing belt. argh.

I am also looking for a maxima, but a 1999 or 1998 SE for under 13k. I found a 1998 black SE with 88k miles for $10,500, but there is a burgandy 1999 SE with Bose for $12,900. I could get the black SE now, or wait like end of September or Mid October and get the burgandy and hope it's still there. BTW, there was also a white 1999 GLE for $99 more than the burgandy one.

hopefully i can talk them down a grand and a half or so. What do you guys think?
