Obviously, I say Amsoil, but if you do go with Redline, the MT-90 is better suited for the Maxima.

You should buy 5 qts to make sure you have enough. The transmission holds 4.5.

It must not have been completely drained when you filled it.

Most people here do use Redline, but I've managed to show some the light with Amsoil. I prefer Amsoil not only because I'm a dealer, but I've used Redline in the past and don't see why anyone should pay the price difference for it.

In the interest of staying objective, the reason I said MT-90 instead of MTL is that the MTL is a much lighter weight, so while it will shift much easier in cold weather than the MT-90, it won't protect anywhere near as well when the transmission is warm. MTL is around an 80wt oil when warm, while the MT-90 is a full 75W-90, more inline with Nissan's specs. Since these transmissions are a weak link in this car, I would prefer to have the better protection of the MT-90 than MTL. Of course there is Amsoil 80W-90 in my car right now.
