Whats this Hesitation Caused By ??

5spd, cold air, y-pipe, ACT clutch
I think it may be normal or caused by the cold air, but when im already in 2nd gear cruizing at like 2000rpms not fast or anything and I punch it to the floor, my car hesistates for a split second and then goes...the car doesnt bog down or anything, it just chills for a split second and then goes foward...It doesnt do it at like 3K or any other rpm range...The fuel filter is new, the TB was cleaned 10K ago and I dont know the milage on the plugs...what do you think ??

I get the same thing..

...I have the automagic...It does feel like some type of strange "air pressure/vacum" drop/delay...then the Burst of power come on. It must have something to do with the Air intake presseure and the flow out through the Ypipe...I never really noticed it until about 2 months after the Ypipe. But when I put on my HKS METALFLOW filter..there is NO Delay...just the power rush/burst. hmmmm

Matt,

I'm experiencing the same thing, where when I gas it, the engine revs up a little, then drops in revs, then catches and lunges. I've posted about this, and asked a few mechanics, and it's been suggested that maybe my clutch is slipping.

Hope not, for both our cases, as this is an expensive proposition. How old is your car, or rather, how new is your clutch?

Also, it's not when I'm pressing the clutch pedal, it's afterwards, in gear, when driving.

But is this a simple process? What's the solution, if it is the knock sensor?
THanks,
Mike

Sounds like knock sensor to me, it must be replaced, not a cheap part, or a fun job, but a lot of us are dealing with it right now. Check this out...

Try a search on knock sensor, I am sure you will find all kinds of good stuff...

you gotta replace it..its not the hardest job, you can do it yourself and save the labor money....they usually go for about 130-200 dollars...so search around for the best price.

I'm experiencing the same problem. If I nail it around 3500 rpm the tach jumps, but I don't accelerate. Now, since I'm in gear (clutch fully engaged) when this happens, this leads me to believe that it is the clutch slipping.

If you're in gear, and your engine rpm seem too high/low for your speed... It's a pretty good sign that the clutch is slipping at that point.
