making automatic windows (1 touch) ?
making automatic windows (1 touch) ?
I have 97 GLE with a driver's side 1 touch automatic window down button. I want to make the passenger side window do the same thing. These are the options I was thinking of doing, which will work best, if at all:
1) Buy another button just like the driver button and put it in the space for the passenger button in the driver side console (but will the passenger side control be 1 touch)
2) buy 1 touch module and install it on the passenger side window (but will it be 1 touch from the drivers control's too?)
I hope this makes some sense, anyone with ideas please let me know.
Thanks,
Eric.

I opened up the whole control module on the driver's door. The one touch thing, is on the actuall circuitry (like the little moder-board). You cannot just get a botton and place it there. The way it works is: Your auto switch can send two different signal, one to tell the motor to go down until you release (which is the first stop), and another signal (the second stop) which actually send a signal to the controling circuit which in turn send the signal to the motor until the window is all the way down. If you just add another boton, there's nothing to interprete the second signal, and it just wont work. In comes the aftermarket module.
or you can always get the smartwindows module that you use with your clifford alarm. 1-tough up and down on both front windows and control through your alarm remote. really nice in the summer to be able to open the windows from 100 yards away and let it air out a little. just a suggestion.

yo, both my front windows can go up and down at a button, and they can go up and down even when the key is taken out provided u press the button before taking out the key...how did i get to this situation.....
i had alarm which controlled all windows, i can roll up and down whenever alarm is put on or off....then back modules died and changed alarm but i guess guy kept the modules working. Well now, for some reason, even when power of car is off, i can STILL roll up the windows as long as i started before i took key out....pretty cool ehh?
works great when the day is hot, u pull up to park, u put gear in neutral, pull parking brake up, press the up button, take out key, let door unlock, step out, walk a quarter the way down the street and see your windows just FULLY rolling up....definitely stops from wasting precious time...

DEI makes a window module that will act as either a 3/4/5 channel off your DEI alarm depending wich model(viper/python/clifford/Avital) you have installed already.
The actual unit at cost will be around $60 or $150-$170 regular price
...and NO i dont have these installed yet cause my alarm brain will not accept more than 3 channels. So now i need a channel expander($30 cost direct from DEI)
