Hey guys, last week I was in a car wreck and my '92 SE (auto) was totaled. Well, now Im looking for a new car. I still want a maxima but with a VQ and 5spd transmittion. Before I go out looking, what are some common problems found on the '95 SE 5spds?? There were common known problems with the 3rd gens like the VTC failure, clocking dimming, terrible trannies, etc.. Can anyone educate me on common problems found in the '95 SE's? Thanks for all the help. Later, ~Steve

Sorry about your wreck, and hope nobody was hurt. Cars can be replaced. Body parts are in a different category.

There have been complaints about bad starters. However, the '95 you buy might already have a new starter in it.

There was a recall on the Oxygen Sensors. Again, the '95 you buy might already have new sensors. Given the Vehicle Identification Number, a Nissan dealer could do a computer lookup and tell you if the car had the sensors replaced.

All in all, the 4Gen Maximas have a respectable reliability track record. Some owners assert that '95s are a bit lighter and faster than later models.
