Shuddering in 1st caused by engine hesitation?

Had a new clutch & hydraulics installed, now the car shudders going into first gear. Only happens when i keep it between 800-1400RPM's. The mechanic said that the car is hesitating/missing and thats why the car shudders? I notice a hesitation in 1-3, kind of like the car is surging, so i'm going to clean the TB and replace the fuel filter. But would that cause the car to shudder in 1st? Any help is appreciated

I don't know what kind of clutch you installed, but it probably has to be worn in before the 1st gear chatter will go away...like 500 miles.

Has it just started doing this, or has it done it for all 7000 miles of the new clutch's life?

Did you get your flywheel resurfaced before you installed the clutch?

Is the shuttering very slight, or very noticable. If slight, I wouldn't worry about it but if noticable, sorry but I just don't know then. Tell ya what though, I work at a Nissan Dealership and I'll ask a tech tomorrow and see what he thinks.

Check your knock sensor...Check your ECU...it is more than likely your knock sensor that is bad and throwing off your timing. This would cause the hesitation..I had the same problem along with many other 4th gens....Check that along with clean throttle body and replacinf fuel filter

I don't think a ks is going to cause much hesitation just at 800-1400rpms in first gear. If it was the ks I'd think there would be more hesitation on acceleration/near the high end, through more than one gear.

I bet they didn't resurface the flywheel or did a bad job at it. It sounds like the new clutch disk doesn't like to interact with old flywheel.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to check my ECU, from what i've been reading about a bad knock sensor it sounds like that could be part of my problem. There is hesitation, noticeable through third gear. The enging sort of surges, then gets choked, a little jerky once i get over 2500-3k RPMS. Also, i just dont have the power i should, couldnt pull an inch on my buddy's bone-stock g20. Thats just not right. Once again, thanks for the help. I'll let you know how it goes.

Your shop sucks. Most likely, they touched either the flywheel or pressure plate surface with greasy fingers. That'll do it.

If it's not your flywheel, check out your motor mounts...they tend to cause this kind of problem as well.

Thats wheel hop, not clutch chatter.

Talked to a tech at work and he is almost certain that your flywheel wasn't cut properly. He told me the only reason he believes a manual would chatter when taking off is due to the flywheel surface not being perfectly flat. Hope this helps.
