Air Conditioning Poll

My 1996 Maxima's air conditioning is blowing cold (doesn't appear to need freon)air BUT the air is not blowing nearly as strong as it once did. It seems that there has been a gradual decrease in the force of the air to the point where I must keep the selector on the #4 setting to keep the car temp to my liking; this was not always the case. The air does blow on all four (4) settings (1,2,3,4) but just not hard as it should. Because it blows on all four setting I think I can rule out a bad resistor (correct me if I'm wrong).

QUESTION: Does it sound like I should replace the blower motor?

I know it's a poll but how are you basing the statement that it doesn't blow "nearly as strong as it once did"? Wouldn't this be more of a subjective thing, unless you're actually measuring airflow. But then, you could be looking at possibly the vent doors not opening/closing completely too.

If you have the fan selector at 4 (max, assuming manual climate control), you bypass the blower motor resistor. So if you genuinely feel that at full setting, it's not blowing as hard, I 'guess' it could be the blower motor losing its 'blow'. (still could be your vent doors not setting properly too, how to tell unless you're gonna tear stuff apart).

Hope it helps somehow, but I just don't want you to change something unnecessarily.

maybe you lost vaccume so the blend doors are partially open bewteen other settings rather than the upper vents. for example it could be blowing some air on the floor vents rather than all the air going to the upper ones.....I could be wrong though.....

The air is coming out the correct vents. I'm lost right now, and trying to avoid a costly(maybe unnecessary)trip to the dealer.
Keep those ideas coming though, I appreciate all you guys, thanks.

This may be far out there but, have you connected anything else to your car lately (ie: stereo system, or anything else that may drain current)?

If so, that may be your problem as well.

I haven't connected anything "new" to the car recently at all.
