OK, here's my problem. I have a '95 SE with a Greddy Cat-back. A few weeks ago, I was backing up and the muffler tip scraped on a curb and it bent some of the piping a little bit. There is no serious damage, however, a part of the pipe that is after the cat and around the area under the
drivers sear is making some noise. It was apparently dislodged, so whenever I hit a bump, the pipe hits a small horizontal bar under the pipe. I was told that the purpose of this bar is to catch the pipe if it becomes dislodged or loosened.

Would it be OK to wrap some sort of padding (like pipe insulation) around the bar to prevent the noise or would this be bad due to the heat from the exhaust. OR should I just have the pipe hanger readjusted so that the pipe is not that close to the bar?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Damn be more careful, but anyway, yes you can wrap the pipe in something that wont burn, like header wrap. This will stop the rattle and help the pipe flow hotter.

I would probably also put in fresh rubber hangers to keep your exhaust tucked properly under the car.
