Hello to every one!
I live in Tijuana Mexico and I just bougt my 98 Maxima GXE with 26000 miles on it in Arizona. On the way back i flored it and I only could go up to about 127 MPH. I just want some feedback on how fast other maximas are.

Do a search for top speed and you will,

find tons of posts,MT tested a 95 Max and it hit 142MPH and with my modded Max I can easly hit over 150MPH in a nice straight away.Out of curiosity how much did you pay for your 98 Max since I am about to buy a 98 with in the next week,so far the best deal I have found is a 98 GXE with 20K miles for $12,000.

I've got a '98 GXE...

and have had it pegged on the needle (140ish) but its slow getting there after 125 or so. Also, the door seals pop and start buzzing at about 120. If you have a car w/ the security & convenience option, they came from the factory w/ H rated tires, and do not have the speed limiter on it.
Otherwise I think you're limited to around 120.

I thought GXE's were governed at 118 or sumtin like that ?
aren't GXE and GLE goverend ?
i know SE isn't governed so you can hit 140 or sumtin like that .. but i wouldn't want to find out

I buried the needle at 145-mph+ before I backed off of it. I don't think it had anything left in it at that point. It got a little "loose" at that speed, too. A little scary... But man, I was *moving* right along!

Got my 99 SE-l up to low 140's bone stock. Hits 130 easy and then slowly gains MPH. Had three of us in the car w/ sunroof open. Car felt tight. Hit upper 170s on my Ninja ZX11, now that's moving!

Thanks to everyone!

Thanks for all the feedback... now I know the potencial of this great car... Think I need to get better tires and rims before I go past 130. Any sugestions?

Ionic

Are your tires H rated or higher? If they are not, then I would not go above 130 on them, it is pretty unsafe with lower rated tires. On a stock GXE without the governor, you can probably hit around 137-140, but be careful, and make sure your tires are at least H rated.

100mph in 3+ secs

Floored it and the needle said 100mph in about 3secs. That was earlier this week in Chicago.

Oh you mean on dry pavement?

an indicated 131mph with 225/50/16s in a 95 auto (stock)
110 came quickly, 120 much slower, 130 v-e-r-y s-l-o-w. The car did, however, feel extremely stable at this speed!
