? about Oil Change???

i have a 95 maxima and the service book says my car should take 4 1/4 quarts of oil, but when i did an oil change and changed the filter , and added 4 quarts of oil in and checked it , its on the full point on the dip stick, i waited a few days and checked it again and its still full,

now the question i have is should i still add the other 1/4 of the quart in or should i leave it alone and leave it with 4 quarts , i heard its bad to overfill so i want to make sure

I'd leave it alone. Chances are that last 1/4 qt. wasn't drained. It's almost impossible to drain the entire system capacity. As long as the level indicates fine, it's no big deal. On the other side of things, an overfill of 1/4 isn't going to cause problems either.

I just buy 4 quarts of Mobil 1 for every oil change because it's easier to buy just 4 quarts, instead of getting 5 for the last 1/4 quart. You're not doing any harm to the engine, so dont worry about it.

As long when you check the dip stick shows full, you're fine..
In my case, when I drained the oil I waited for about 1 or 2 hours until the last drop. Then I needed to pour 4.25 quarts.

Overfilling the crankcase is bad.

Yank your filter off, then put it back on. Repeat as needed to get capacity back to correct level on dipstick.

the thing is is that its going to the second bump(highest one) on the dipstick, is that where it should be?
