Engine swap!!!!!!

I own a 95 maxima, and i am wondering how much modification if any is needed to drop in a Nissan VG30DE-TT (twin turbo 300zx engine) into my engine bay. I kno this is possible but has anyone actually done this before or have any wise words of wisdom for me, and "NO" is not a wise answer. THANKS!

Re: Engine swap!!!!!!

It's been done lots of times. Several folks have the TT engine installed, including me.

I have to run, but I'm sure one of the moderators here would be happy to answer all the technical questions you may have.

Why stop there? Some people have the RB26DETT from the GT-R transplanted into our cars. It is more tunable than the VG engine. My next mod is to convert to rear wheel drive.

Why do you guys have to be such a$$holes? Not all of us have been here a long time or know everything. For people like you nothing is possible but buying basic bolt ons. People like you are the people who irritiate me the most....go back to being like everyone else and buying mods everyone else on the board has

Nah, we just don't like kids who jump on the board and ask ridiculous questions. Honestly, you don't have to be a certified mechanic to know this sort of swap isn't possible, and especially not affordable. He probably heard about one of his buddies wanting to swap an engine in his Honduh, and figured he would do the same to his Maxima.

It would cost a ton of money and you don't have room for the turbo's. Supposing you went ahead, you'd have to hope the tranny from an old VG Maxima would fit, or modify our tranny to mount to the old block. Then the axels and motor mounts would need to be fabricated. You'd have to bring in a new wiring harness for the ECU. You'd probably need room for intercoolers and a bigger radiator. Then you'd have an overweight, outdated, unreliable engine and a $6000 bill unless your really handy with tools.

We already have turbo and supercharger options available to our engines which, by the way, are actually more advanced in many ways then the VG.

The search button and the FAQ's at the top of the Fourth Generation forums will help you in the future.

Happy maximaracer?

Primarily because it's not possible. So to get it done, you'd have to pay quite a bit. If you had money for that, I'd think you'd be looking into getting a new car or boat.

Just messing around man, no harm meant. Had to crawl around under the car again and I'm tired. Love your sig pic.

Haha no harm either dude..thanks for the compliments on the sig pic...I dunno I just got mad today because honestly since the first day Ive been posting here it seems people usually put down ideas etc and go along with everyone else. I mean the turbo thing is getting old, and is a ton of $ and work but cant we just reply with something like the reply i was given, abotu fabrication etc? Or I think I saw a sticky and just post a link to that, and if they have any more ?'s then they can ask...Like I said I just got mad because of a few reasons today....

Search... You dont want to put a VG30DETT in the max. If you really want turbo and want a new engine, VQ30DET has ben done. just search VQ30DET. That and like mentioned before, there is a turbo for the max and Vortech supercharger. WElcome To Maxima.org. Some people here will make fun of you and others will help. I have a 95 GXE. Its an auto, dont ask why, it just is. You want to beat those honduh's? It doesnt take much. They have a NOS kit for under 500 shipped in the group deals forum. Thats all you need. And if your thinking... "NOS will kill my engine"... Go do another search.
