Do you guys warm up your engine in the morning?

Do you guys warm up your engine in the morning?

I normally warm it up about 2-3 minutes until the temperature raise a bit. And in the winter time, it takes about 5 minutes.

I read on a 99 ITR manual that it doesn't need to be warm up because they said that it will waste gasoline. and I couldn't find anything about it on Maxima manual.

What do you guys think?

You shouldn't let the car idle more than 1 minute, summertime or wintertime. It is better to drive off slowly than let the car idle for a long time because the engine will build higher oil pressure- which helps circulate the oil better- plus the engine will warm up much faster when you drive it. Don't rev the motor quickly (zing the motor) and rev too high for a first few minutes after driving off.

There's no need to warm up your car before driving it. You should drive it gently until it does warm up though. I usually use very light throttle and keep the RPM under 3000 until about 5 minutes after the coolant temp gauge reaches normal. What you really want is for the oil temp to come up before you horse the engine.

First thing.. I start up the car..
Second.. put CD in / hook up the Handphone to
Hand free machanism.. (It takes 1 or 2 min)
and I just drive off..

So summer (1 to 2 min)
winter (3 to 5 min)

Even though my max is garaged most of the time, I still run it for a few minutes before I need to go anywhere

Driving around to warm up the car and shifting around 2500 rpms is how I do it. That way the other important thing gets warmed up too - tranny.

you're not supposed to let it sit, just drive and don't go over 3k rpm until your car is heated a little over the C on the temp gauge
