Camshafts Regrinds

i'm planning 2 send my camshafts 2 crower 2 get a custom regrinds on them. what do u all think, is it a good idea, it's gonna cost me $300 for all 4 n this should give me something around 15hp. i'm not sure if that 15hp is real or just talk. if there is anyone who's tried this mod b4 plzz tell me how it is n what i should do, cos i really want some extra power on the high rpm's but i feel 15hp is too little. is is possible 2 get 30hp from the cams only but not loose any low rpm power, i don't mind it being very noisy n not stable while not moving as long as it doesn't damage my engine. one more thing i wana know is what r the advantages n disadvanteges on doing this mod.

Try to look around for info on the JWT cams that are on the way out. That will give you a decent baseline to start with.

Forgive my asking, but do you think you have the knowhow to uninstall and reinstall the cams, or are you having a shop do it? What specs are you getting the cams ground to? To me it sounds like you haven't researched this idea a whole lot and are just looking for extra power anywhere you can find it. What other mods do you have and what mods do you plan to do? All this has a bearing on whether or not this is worthwhile for you.

First, you grammar "style" doesnt make you seem very smart to begin with.

Second, you can't just "regrind" a cam for more power. Getting the proper cam profile takes a lot of research and plenty of trial and error. If they have done Maxima cams before, then you'll be in good shape. If not, well, who knows what you will get...

Yeah, weird writing style.

I would just wait for JWT to start production on the cams, that's what I'm doing. Maybe even give him a call.
