Need help with VI problems
I am having a few problems with my VI
1) the RPM switch light does not come on at the set rpm. I heard that having it in the engine might hurt it, is this true? Mine is right next to my washer fluid resovior. Might just need to fix the connection. I used the WHT wire and set it to 1-4 off, 5 on and 6-7 off for the coil setting
2) how is the map/baro sensor from a pulsar supposed to be hooked up?
See pic below
3) how do you do a vacum leak test? I have the FSM and have not been able to locate it. I am sure I am overlooking it. Very frustrated right now
Any help would be GREAT
Thanks

Did you set the RPM switch for "coil on plug"?
Did you depress the DIP switches for over 2 seconds with the LED lighting up? The LED should light up at you when it gets it's setting. Coil on plug will flash once. The RPM setting (say you want 4700) will flash 1-1-1- pause 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 (1 = flash).
Vacuum from the engine (ie sucking) is what pulls the actuator back. You can test your solenoid by running two jumper wires to the +/- posts of the battery. You should hear the solenoid click open with power. With a vacuum line, try sucking on each port on the solenoid when it's open and then when it's closed. Only one of these will work ports will work. The end you suck on (that opens with power) goes to the tank. The other end goes to the actuator and the other port is left open as a vent. Do the same thing with the ports on the vacumm tank. You should only be able to suck, not blow You should feel the vacuum on the other port as your sucking. And when you try to blow thru, your eyes should come out of your head because the check valve won't let the air out. Once you hook all this up to your vacuum tank, you can test to see if everything works by running the solenoid to the battery again. Even at the idle, the VI actuator will activate if everything is hooked up correctly. It it doesn't work, you've go the vacuum lines crossed. Play around with them.
