questions about my new engine??-

questions about my new engine??-

well i got my engine today.. it is from a '96 and i have a '95. there are 2 things different about this one.. i got some pics of it. i dont know what these are, but i'm sure someone here does. i've circled the 2 things that aren't on my current engine. anyone?

I think it is just part of the extra emissions system that is on the 96-99 but not on the 95. Me and mzmtg compared our cars at a meet, nad my 96 has that stuff near the throttle body, and his 95 doesn't. If you are going to use your 95 ECU, the you can probably leave that stuff off.

OK, these are almost just educated guesses, but the bottom thing (bigger, silver) looks like the EVAP canister purge volume control valve, and the top thing (smaller, black) looks like the EVAP canister purge control valve. Both engines should have these things...shouldn't they?

i think that 96's didn't have OBD II yet. it might go by manufacture date, though (past a certain month they had to be compliant, etc.). My 96 is definately OBD II. could those extras be because the engine might be Cal-Spec instead of Fed?
