Need advise on a clutch

Hi,
i have a 96 gxe 5spd. but the clutch seems to be grabing really high up when i relese the pedel. i was wondering what signs to look for in a clutch that is about to go.

If you clutch is about to go you will have SLIPAGE. It will not grab completely.

If your clutch is grabbing really high, you need to adjust the master cylinder bolt down by the clutch pedal. Both Haynes (Chapter 8-6) and Chilton manuals have a good write up on this. It is a real PITA to get under there. Your mechanic should be able to do it for $20-$30 bucks. You should also bleed the clutch after you adjust it.

You don't want to drive around like that for long. When it gets hot, you will not be able to shift into ANY gear. The MTF expands, more so, if you have air bubbles in there and will not disengage by the floor. You will have to push it half way to shift...bad for your tranny.
