Should i change to synthetic oil

i have a 96 max with 120,000 miles on it and i have been puting regular oil in it. Since i only use the best products on my car im contemplating switching to synthetic oil. But some say you should stick with whatever you started with and that even though synthetic is better the switch is no good for the car.

If you have the $$$ for the more expensive oil then switch. It is better in every way except $$$$.

If you've used regular oil with no problems for 120,000 miles don't switch now, it won't do you any good unless you go to extended drain intervals.

way too late to switch now...don't think you'll get any benefits at this stage except longer interval between changes.

From what I have heard it's usually a bad idea to switch over on a car with that many miles on it. I've heard stories of gaskets going bad and things starting to leak after people switched over on higher milage engines. I don't know if they're true or not, but doesn't really seem worth the risk to me.
