One headlight lens is foggy... the other is crystal clear!

My 1998 Maxima has one dirty, kinda' foggy looking lens, and the other is crystal clear. It's gross looking.

I searched, and the only suggstion people had is buying a new lens. That's krap. Those things are expensive.

Does anyone think rubbing compound (something like 3M or some other brand) would clean the foggy lens? If it works on the interior clock in the dash, I don't see why it wouldn't work on the headlight lens...

The yellowing of your headlamp is from the heat, unless you have had water damage to the inside. I don't think you can wipe it clean. I would try Tustin or Courtesy Nissan for the replacement parts.

Thanks for the replies...

However, it's not really a fog thats on the inside of the light. It's more like the light is just older and dirty... or more scratched up than the other one. It almost looks as if the other light is newer (my Max is a salvage vehicle... so maybe one light was replaced but not the other).

I tried Meguiar's clear plastic cleaner followed by the clear plastic detailer... it did nothing at all. It just made it a little more shiny, but it is still not as clear as the other light.

Strange.
