Re: My Max is like a different car

So I've been saving up money and I've finally start modding my Max. It's going to take two days in total to get every thing on (Damn rusted bolts). So far the things I have on are KYB AGX (Damn these shocks r awesome) and Eibach springs. I also have the FSTB on. My car is like a totally new car now! My baby handles the road and corners like a cruise missile. I also have the PR CAI. It sounds great, but the installation was a pain. It doesn't seem like everything fits properly (the monster flow filter seems a little too big)... but when it was all over, the CAI sounds great and I can feel the extra horses already. All I have left to do is to get on my Y-pipe from budget, Greddy cat-back, and RSB. Man I love my car!

For anyone that are thinking about springs/shocks combo, I love my setup right now. My ride is a lot stiffer than stock, but if the roads in your area doesn't have a lot of bumps and pot-holes the AGX/Eibach combo kicks a$$!!!

Just wait till you get a rsb. Then you'll know what handling is about.

You will get a rougher ride with any lowering kit.

I got kyb agx on 4/8 level, and an rbs made as much difference as adding a fstb or the kyb agx. its like fstb is level 1, then kyb is level 2, and this is like level 3. Dumb way of explaing it but trust me, I wish i had done it sooner.

yea, i heard the same thing. i remember in the test of the 2 Stillen maximas, the one without the rsb did better, or something like that. is there any truth to this?

OH the Eibach's, so the AGX should work well with pot holes and what not correct?

What I meant was that some people say that Eibachs are too stiff. The ride's too bumpy. The beauty of the AGX's is that they are fully adjustable. You can go from a soft to a firm ride by turning the dial or screw. Right now I'm running on 3/6 setting and it's pretty firm. If you live in an area with rough roads then you might want to consider less firm springs like H&R, but still get the AGXs.

The problem with low springs like Sprints and Intrax is that they compromise wheel travel. Every 1" of drop is one less inch of wheel travel. Less wheel travel means more bottoming out. Sprint and Intrax try to keep the car from bottoming out by using really high spring rates. The spring rates are what make the car ride rough, generally (if the shocks are good). This week I pulled off my Intrax and installed H&Rs because I needed a little more ground clearance and wheel travel because of some of the job sites I go too. Yes, my car rides .4" higher in the front and .75" higher in the rear, but the ride is much softer and I don't bottom out anymore. The H&Rs don't handle as well (on a smooth surface), but I like the smoother ride. I like good handling and a good ride over excellent handling and a harsh ride. Sprints are downright harsh and at levels. Intrax ride just like stock until you hit something that's 1/4" or higher/lower on the road. They never got harsh until you hit a decent bump. I miss the low look, but I love my softer ride.

although you can adjust the KYB's, the ride will become stiffer which allows for betterhandling.

If you want a soft, pillowy ride, I will sell you my GLE struts and springs!!

I have the Sprint and AGX combo and the ride is sweet! Not too rough IMO. I think tires can make a big difference with how harsh your ride is. i'm currently running 225 50 16s with the AGX set to 3 in front and 4 in the back. Rides nice and firm, people who ride in the car can't tell.

When i went to the track, i set my AGX to 4/8 (the stiffest setting) and THEN i was bouncing over bumps..
