injen?

i heard if you get an injen CAI that you dont have to do any cutting? is this true? do you nead to relocate anything? how would an injen CAI compare to the frankencar set up with sound and power?

Injen pics and impression

I just installed my Injen tonight.
<-------Check homepage for several pics. I took a picture of the filter as well, for those who want to see where the piping goes down to. Disclaimer: The location might be slightly different than other Injen CAI due to how you install the lower piping.

My impression: Very Very good! I used a Stillen pop charger w/o an upper piping for 2 weeks and started to notice bottom end loss. But with the Injen, bottom end is restored and it pulls very hard on high rpm. And it sounds a LOT better than the Stillen intake. If you drive like a sane man, it's actually pretty quiet. High rpms definitely sound better than the Stillen as well.

I pulled on the side of the highway, and touched the filter and part of the lower piping, it was definitely cold! The middle part of the pipe does heat up a bit. Next, I'm going to measure the piping temperature with an Exergen temp gun after a long drive.

I got it @ my local rice shop today for $205, cheapest I have seen everywhere. Plus I didn't have to pay shipping or have to wait.

I'm not sure.... it doesn't come with a carb exempt certificate like my Stillen did.

Sil,

yeah during the first few days I didn't feel a loss at the bottom end with the Stillen, but I did a bunch of butt dyno test on very long uphill, and I started from dead stop at the bottom of the hill. There is DEFINITELY a loss at the bottom end. But with this Injen, you get so much pull at the bottom and at the top, it's great!!! Yeah, you have to get one once you get your car back!

It's quieter in comparison of the Stillen. Don't get me wrong, if you step WOT, it will roar, but not as deep and loud (probably because the intake isn't as close to the drive seat as Stillen was), it's a much more race-ier sound.

I'm going to try to get a groupdeal for this for under $200 shipped for 95-03 Maximas. I think if you want to further improve the intake, replace the filter with the Apex'i Power Intake filter. Here's some reviews:

Yeah, brother!

First I have to get the right equipment to record. Second, the CAI sounds very different under load then just revving in neutral (sounds very much like stock). And if I stick my hand with a recorder out the window going high speed to get the sound....(that'll be funny )... all you'll hear is wind noise.

Redmax, in you opinion.... since I don't have all the under carriage covering being 5-spd, do you think I'll run into water problem with my Injen??? Thanks!

For those of you curious how it sounds, "Injen" has a video of their dyno pull on their website.
The 4th Gen Max sounds so good with their test. Well; I also got a $900 dollar pair of speakers rigged up to my PC as well, but still it sounds really good and better than some other cars they got video clips for. It's seems like listening to a V8 musclecar.
I guess that long straight intake tubing brings out some deep bottom end sound.
