Buying a Maxima 4th Gen SE: San Diego and Escondido area

I am hoping that I am posting this on the right forum. I am helping my girlfriend to buy a Maxima 97 with 72500 miles in Escondido, CA (near San Diego).

It's an SE model, and it comes with Bose, 5-spoke SE wheels, moonroof, spoiler, and power seat. The seller wants 11k, and it's always been maintained by Mossy Nissan (National City?).

I did take a look at Kelley's Bluebook for private seller to be at $10515.

What is the normally ongoing price for a 4th Gen SE in California? Oh, and another thing, my girlfriend wants to have a car by the end of this week.

Please let us know what you guys think!

Thank you,

Armand

$ 9750 eh...hmm...

That's actually a very good price...but seems to me that those guys are holding it at 10500.......

We will meet again with the seller today and let's see what happens.

his asking price is right on the dot. if you don't buy it, someone else will. Edmunds says trade in is $9,227. I'd say, if you already haven't started dealing, initially offer 8000. Don't be affraid to walk away. Pull all the tricks on him. I'm sure you can get him to drop a few $100.

btw, what color is the car and where did you find it? I've been looking for 2 years for a 4th gen 5sp with less than 100k and under $10k...and finally found one last week.

Bought the car: $10400

...and this is not the BEST DEAL of the CENTURY, but it's a really nice car.

The car is located in Escondido...the owner is a retired professor from SJSU (San Jose State Uni), and he has maintained the car very well.

The color is Sherwood green (or was it Sage Mist Green?), SE with Auto, and overall the car is very nice. It has some dents on the body, but it's not really noticeable.

The guy already replaced the alternator about 4 weeks back (told him about the recall and he sais "Arrrgghh!!!" --> that was funny), and it runs very well. All service records are available, and it has 72500 on the odo.

Does not knock when we were climbing a steep cliff with 4 people in it, and overall, it was a nice buy.

You are right about the price, it's really dead on. Offering him a $ 8000 or $ 10000 would not be a wise act, not only because we love the car, but there are 2 other people who are going to jump on it if we don't want to take it today.

Wire transfer is on the way, and my girlfriend will soon be on the .org. Hopefully we could take the car on Friday and bring it to her apartment.

Man, I am telling you....Maximas are simply addictive!!!!
Wonder why the government has not stopped this kind of addiction.

It's a good day today in Escondido....
