how to make duals....

Ok, I have decided to put a flowmaster muffler on my max, and I want to have dual tips (one on each side, not dual tipped muffler) but I dont want to get that camaro set up. Can I make a second exhaust tip branching off of the muffler running to the other side of the car, or will I need buy a second muffler?? thanks if anyone can clear me up on this

You will prolly have to have it custom done, thats what everyone here has done. You need to get true duals!

Craig Mack correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Camaro setup is in fact a second exhaust "tip" branching off the muffler that goes 'round the spare tire well and out the other side.

I too want the duals, but I'm going to look into having a custom job done because I also don't like the Camaro setup.

i have duals and i brnaced off the other pipe on teh right side of the car...then the shop bent a pipe around my spare tire well and then i have a chrome tip on the end of the pipe....i took off my muffler on the right side and added another chrome tip...just recently i orderd two nice chrome mufflers (they look like the stillen ones) and im gonna have those put on my max...the only problem with this is that they r gonna have to do some **** to my apre tire well cuz the muffler wont fit on the left side...not enough room.....

im into looks not performance so i dont care if i lose powoer or not...u might wanna keep that in mind......

How can one alter the body of the car to make groves for a secondary B-pipe to the left side? Actuallly it would only be part a B-pipe...sounds like a 5 spd conversion is cake work next to this...

Where did you branch it off from? Also, did you move your EVAP (?) canister?

LOL! Yah JeffesonM, what are you trying to do putting duals on a Maxima. Don't you know "you need a v8 or some v6's for a true dual exhaust" (NickStam).

Sorry, that was just hilarious

also, do you guys just cut out the bumper on the left side for the exhaust tip? or do you get a new bumper? I think duals look nice on the 4th gens, I want performance from my car (however I wont get the performance I want from my max) so I try to compromise looks with performance wherever possible.

I really have no idea what the hell an EVAP canister is (hence the ? in my post), but I remember in some other dual exhaust posts someone said something about having to relocate their EVAP canister. I looked under my max and it looks like it could be the black box towards the driver side of the spare tire well.

On the other hand, I could be completely wrong because I really don't know what I'm talking about

Sin... yea I didn't realize I'd have to get at least one more v6 to get the true duals... they must have a hell of a time fitting two v6s into those new Hyudai Tiburons...

The evap is part of your fuel system. It removes moisture from your fuel. YOU NEED THIS!!! You can relocate, but you CANNOT remove this. It is in a squarish type enclosure, and is painted black, so what you guys think is the evap is probably it. It's located near the filler area.

How much power would one lose or gain from this setup?

not much if anything. Car without turbo or supercharger normally get very little hp out of a cat back or anyhthing of such. A down pipe is a different story.
