OEM brake pad install experience,
well, I ordered my front OEM brake pad from courtesy nissan about 3 months ago and I installed them today.
I was trying to install the right side first. while I was installing the right side, I looked through the new pads and found out that there was only one pad that had the wear indicator. the other three did't have the indicator. further more, they didn't have the holes for the anti-rattle springs.
I was like WTF, they (nissan) put the wrong pads in the box. since I already spent some time on the car, I just installed all of them anyway so the left side brake doesn't have the wear indicator and no spring was installed because there was no hole. I tested drive the car, and feel normal. but I still got doubth, so I was thinking to come here to the .org and ask you guys about this tonight.
Later on, while I was trying to throw away the box, I found a very small piece of instruction sheet in the box. The instruction basically said the new brake pad kit is different from the original one from the car and it should contain only one pad with wear indicator. also, the pad with the wear indicator should be installed on the right side. So basically, I got lucky for installing the right side first with the wear indicator. I was even trying to go back to the old ones while the install.
One thing I learned from this is that: always look for the instruction sheet first before doing anything.

I would like to see wear indicators on all pads. You never know which wheel might have problems. You could be on bare metal on 1 of the other 3 wheels and not know it until you ruined a rotor. Shame on Nissan for being so cheap in their design!!!

That is what I do. I personally rotate tires every 5k(hand torque to 80 ft lbs) and always check pad thickness plus look for problems, brake fluid leaks, etc...

I do hand torque, but I do 30 lb/ft around the car, then 60 lb/ft around the car, and finally the recommended spec for the max from my mechanic of 87 lb/ft for the final torque.
Tire Rack claims that a new set of tires should be rotated more frequently at first, around 3000 miles, then 3500 miles, the 4000 miles until you end up around 7500 miles at the end of the life of the tire. The reason for this is that the tire when it has more tread wears faster, and the more frequent rotation helps out with extending the life of the set of tires.
I do agree, though, that I was also disappointed when I last changed my OEM brake pads to also find a wear indicator on only one set of front pads (and found the explanation both at the dealer and in the little instruction sheet).
Just my two cents worth on the topic.

Re: OEM brake pad install experience,
Nissan must not be selling enough rotors.

OEM brake pads
I recently replaced my OEM brake pads with Nissan OEM brakes. I was disappointed to find that the new brake pads did not include holes for the two spring retainers that existed on each of the front calipers.
I installed the calipers anyway and I havne't had any problems so far.
I also noticed the absence of the wear indicators.

I don't think so, the first warning w/o wear sensors would be metal on metal noise. At that point you can order the rotor(s) you always wanted because you'll need them. I installed Raybestos Quiet stops 7 weeks ago, had holes in front pads for anti rattle springs and had a wear sensor(s) for each rotor (4). Also came with self adhesive shims and synthetic high temp grease. They are very quiet and veery little dusting!
