car was running fine stopped for gas at QT......dead
checked the ecu code....04/01....came bake intake Air temp sensor...
why would that make my car not start and does anyone know if it serves any other purpose....
Any ideas...anyone had this problem....

I bet either a cam or crank position sensor failed. Your spark timing is off, thats why the back fire.
Your ECU may not be picking up the failure because the car isn't running and it can't "watch" the sensor. Had a similar problem with an I30 which had a no start condition, but no ECU codes. Turned out to be a crank sensor (POS).
The car to be hook onto a scan tool and all the readings, live, were watched. No signal was present from that sensor.
Strange how the ECU can pick up a problem while your car is running, but if it's not running and something goes bad, over night lets say... the ECU sometimes can't see what's wrong.
