Does anyone own these or any other model from Rota? I want to buy them in Gunmetal gray. Any thoughts if they'll look OK on blk body or maybe blk on blk?just want something diff than silver. Any advice or pics? I like them b/c they're lightweight and not too expensive.

They are a knockoff Spoon SW388. I think they have a flat finish, no gloss to them. Nice and light, 13lbs I believe. You do know what they look like right? They are pretty bland, 5 spoke style, no centercap, exposed lugs and axle nuts.

whats the deal with exposed axle nuts? I've noticed that 1max2nv is the only car with volks that have center caps. are they that expensive or do they weigh the rim down by that excessive 30 grams per wheel?

The only Rota SLipstream that will fit our cars are the 16x7 40mm offset rims.
The 17x7.5 have a very high offset (45mm)
You can get them for less than $500 shipped from:
http://www.subydude.com.
http://www.revolutionsmotorsports.com (Ask for Jay, good guy).

If you are running stock rims right now (19.6 lbs), the slipstreams (13 lbs) will give you extra 12-14 wheel hp due to greatly reduced unsprung weight. and this is across the RPM range.

Good Luck.

I have the rota subzero in bronze on my car. These rims are really light weight and are the perfect way to upgrade and be able to run a wider tire for cheap. If you are getting them for show or just for looks then DON'T do it... while the quality of build is great - the finish is very poor and while my wheels have not flaked yet, I know of two other people with rota wheels that have the finsh coming right off. I can only speak for the subzero - they fit fine, no real rubbing to be worried about (but whenver possible I would still get a lower offset)

Because the Axle nut sticks out way to far on the front. They dont make anything that "domed" to get over that nut. At least on the Te-37's anyways.

Check out Centerline RPMs.

even the 18s are superlight
i think only 14 pounds. And i believe they look alot like Konig Verdicts (which are one of the best looking rims on maximas) and yes i know verdicts are quite common.
Hence the fact im gonna go with Centerline RPMs with my max.

my 2 cents

Centerline RPMS cost about 3x as much as Rota Slipstreams.

Agree. The second-best bang for the buck are the Kosei K1 Racing
16x7.5 and weighs only 13.5 lbs.

Thanks for the input guys. I like the idea of gettin more horses to the wheels with lighter rims, thats 1st priority, looks is a very close 2nd and lastly price, but i wont spend more than $1k for rims and tires. Rotas seems like the way to go.Plus they have choice of colors. Any thoughts on all season tires?

I'm weird. I'm actually liking the look of 16" wheels with chunkier tires. (I've got 17" right now.)

I feel the same exact way. I went from relatively heavy 17s with 235/45 to lightweight 16X7.5 Kosei K1s with super meaty and sticky (160 tread wear) Sumitiom HTR Z 225/50 tires. I love the look. With the relatively wide 16s with thin spokes and super blocky tires, the 16s actually look like 17s. Everyone that sees my car says they like my 17s, but they I should have gone with 18s for a bigger look

With the slightly smaller and much lighter rims (-10 lbs), I get better acceleration (proven in my timeslips), better handling, better braking, no more curb-check worries, and a softer ride. There's really no compromise.

Ive found RPMs for 1100 a set online on diff webpages. How reliable i dont know, the fact is the Centerlines look more like "non-racing" rims for people that want the style too. I cant speak for everyone's tastes but the race look rims are not my type of rims. Centerlines are good because they look like good rims and act like amazing rims. If you want to do a price comparison look at Racing Hart wheels which the Rota's were copied from. They are about 4X more expensive than Rotas. All im saying is that ive found good deals on Centerlines and yes even with the higher price i would buy them.

How does one get a hold of real light weight rims? I mean Magnesium Alloy rims? I think that it is Magnesium(sp) but I had read that they are super duper light and some exotics have them OEM. I know I know we don't drive exotic cars with exotic materials, but if they are out there why not? For those of you who are going to flame me on the price of such a wheel lets not forget the thousands of people who spend mucho dinero on chromies and perpetual spinners. People will waste their money on anything if they get their chance look at the pet rock.

I run my Kosei's on my car all year round and on some pretty abusive streets in Kansas City. They've been in subzero weather and in 100+ weather and I've hit huge potholes that I swore would shape the rim like a football. I've had absolutely no problems. Appartently the K1 is a pressure cast alumninum wheel which makes it very strong and light without having to go forged route which kicks up the price a lot. Most rims on the market & OEM are cast alumninum which makes them more fragile and prone to cracking and bending.
