how to tell if rotors turned properly

I just had the rear rotors turned. How do I tell if they were turned properly? The fronts I had turned last year are nice and shiny and the backs are not shiny like the fronts are. Is that a big deal?

The front rotors were done using a finer cut than your rear rotors. Mechanics tend to use a coarser cut when in a hurry! I have put on rotors that were cut both ways without any problems. The way to check if they are done correctly is to mic the thickness of the rotors, then check surface variation using a run out gauge. Who ever turned your rotors should the equipment to check them but normally wouldn't do it unless you ask them to do it. They don't volunter for extra work!
