I've read some of the articles regarding cornering lights that gets bright when the turn signal is on. A second light is projected to the ground. Is this an option that can be added to a 1998 GXE? I thow this is a standard on a 95/96 GLE. Thanks

I am sure you have read some of the articles on the rewiring, but I'm pretty sure that the only way you can make the markers brighter when the turn signal is on is to splice into the turnsignal harness and rewire that into your corner lights. This might pose a problem though due to the extra draw on the signal. I have rewired(soldered) the corner lamp and am happy with extra light being projected. If others know how to get the brighter signal when the turn goes on I would like to know how you did it.

For those people who have rewired their cornering lights so that its brighter...was it hard to do? What risks, if any, might I have in damaging my car?

Last question, how hard is it to remove your cornering lense? I tried removing it before, but it wouldn't budge. I was afraid to push harder in case that might have broken something. Did you guys find it hard to take off too?

Lot of people have done it, I'll be doing it once I get the bulbs that I want.

I JUST USE 1156 LIGHT BULB AND FILE OFF ONE OF THE NIBBLE. PUT IT IN THE CORNER LIGHT SOCKET AND IT WORKS. NO NEED TO GO THROUGH THE SOLDERING PROCESS. GO BACK TO STOCK WITH A CHANGE OF THE LIGHT BULB. TO REMOVE CORNER LIGHT, YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE ONE SCREW THAT IS HOLDING IT, AND GET A FLAT HEAD SCREWDRIVER FROM THE TOP LOOK FOR THE PLUG IN PEG AND SOCKET ( LIKE THE ONES ON THE BUMPER LIGHTS) WIGGLE IT AND PULL ON THE CORNER LIGHT. IT IS ALITTLE TIGHT BUT IT WILL POP OUT.

It's so easy

Take out the light, pop the receptacle up so that you can see it. Strip back the green wire cover, heat up the terminal the wire is connected to and it will loosen up. Once it's off, heat up the other one and connect the wire to the other solder point. Done. Will shine 24w instead of 8w (i think those are the numbers).

I think it's 27w after the rewire.
In my opinion it's a little too bright, so I'm going to get a pair of polarg superwhite 1157s that are (21w/5w) so when I rewire, they'll be white to match my headlights and they won't be too bright.

I have a 97'and this is what I did!
Take the lens out. Remove the bulb from the socket.Take a small flathead srewdriver and pry up on the little black plastic piece while pushing up on the wire in
the back(black with the red stripe). This wire is the to work with. The other wire(black) is just a ground and there is no need to mess with it. The wire(black
with red stripe)is soldered to the back of the little black plastic piece. Cut this wire off of where it is soldered to,keep up with the spring so you won't forget it. This
wire will be spliced to the other connection. I drilled a hole straight through the other side, through the solder and all and I took apart and old fuse holder, the flat
sides that look like a nail head this is where the contact point of the bulb will be. Drill a hole big enough in the plastic to slide the wire from the fuse holder through
about 18 ga. size. Splice the fuse holder wire with a butt splice to the wire(black with red stripe). Slide everything back into place and you should be set. The bulb
should shine brighter than it did in the beginning. All we are doing is lighting up the high side on this dual filament bulb,by swapping contact points in the socket.

You should also get the superwhite XENON #1157 bulbs it will be real nice and bright and looks real good. Here.....

I got the instuctions and looked at the lights, but the thing is i have two wires...black and red, black and green (i think those were the colors)
Point is I had two wires...before and after the connecter (the thing where you can detach the harness from the rest of the car)
Two wires....that's it...all the way though...just those two wires.... am i suppose to just connect the two together or am i missing some wires?

Just remember that rewiring the corner lights for the 95-96 and for the 97-99 Maximas are a bit different. For my 96 Maxima, I didn't have to solder anything. Much easier for the 95-96, took me about 15mins.
