my steering wheel is peeling (getting old and beat up) and if possible i would like to switch it with the 99 type. There is a nice design they have with little bumps and looks a little more spread apart but i would like to put that on one day if possible. This is not in FAQ so i think i'll be the first to post this

Just buy a '99 wheel with a '99 airbag or try to source the 2 items separately. The airbag will add considerably to the cost, but maybe you can unload your '95 airbag on Ebay or something to help offset the cost. . .

Anything's possible!

Yep, replacement bags are HELLA-$$$$$! You might try shopping some salvage yards (junkyards) online to see if you can come up w/ anything reasonable.

I would never spend the dough on a brand new one.

actually my car is a 97 gxe. i think the previous owner got into an accident and put the wrong front bumper on. sucks to be me...while everyone else does the 95 to 97 conversion, mine is the other way around. as far as the steering wheel, they fit on all maximas 97-99 i believe. sorry, but i don't think they fit the 95-96's. installation was a snap. just have to disconnect the battery for a good 30 mins or so to discharge the capacitors in the airbag. other than that it's just a bolt off bolt on procedure.

check my homepage. i have one picture. if you like i can email you a few more pics. but fyi, this was the only one he had in this color. but he does have a lot of the maple (matches gle and i30 trim) and the grey sandalwood which looks very sporty. if he didn't have the rosewood i definately would have gone with the sandalwood. it kinda has that carbon fiber color, but the woodgrain is a lot classier imo.

i'm not sure where the diffence is exactly, but according to Richard Crabbe of nis knacks these are direct replacements for only 97-99. some earlier post said something about air bags or something. not sure if that is the case, but it may be the reason. two of our other friends had 96's and believe me, if the steering wheels fit, Richard would have put them on their cars, but he couldn't.

Yeah, that seems like the $64,000 question. I dunno for sure. Looks like 96shogunmax may be the first guinea pig to give it a go.

Pleeeeze report back to us on your findings - Good luck!

I've seen steering wheel with bag go for $75-$100 around here, call up your local yards or search on google.

i see you dont need it anymore, but i can find few and resell if there is interest. As for the place, you just need to know where to go and who to talk to.
