My MAXIMA's Performance

I am not too impressed witn my Max. I know my car can do better than this, for some reason when I floor it. it just does'nt move the way it suppose to not quick enough, any suggestion. Here is what I have
97 Max SE 5 Speed, mods ( Stillen Intake, Cattman SS Y pipe ) I don't seem to feel any difference after these mods. Any help will be really appreciated.

do u get regular tune ups and check ups? my car isn't in its best shape because i haven't done a tune up in a long time but i have some spark plugs and fuel filter coming in next week so that should increase performance a little....hopefully

check your 1/4 times........maybe your just used to faster cars - your car should be pulling low 15's to high 14's

Possibly a Knock sensor problem because if you didn't really feel it when you put those mods on then there is something causing your car not to perform. Have you pulled the codes from your ECU to see if maybe you knock sensor is showing up...because if the code for the knock sensor comes up then you know what your problem is. Just from my friends and other max's it seems that the knock sensor is one of the bigger culprits. Otherwise it is electrical stuff or your missing a spark or something. Because you should be able to feel a y-pipe on the butt dyno

Just my 2 cents,
-John

u dont feel any difference? I just installed my cold air intake two days ago and i felt the added power. My max feels like a race car more than a luxury car now. I am planning to get a cattman y pipe and i heard it gives modest gains you should be able to feel the difference.

I will second that. I just changed my buddies knock sensor on his 99 SE. (auto) Now he get lots of rubber in first gear when he stands on it.

With the bad knock sensor, the motor would gulp air, hesitate, and then slowly accelerate.

By changing the knock sensor his g-tech time dropped a FULL SECOND from 16.8 to 15.8!

John I agree with you these are the symtoms, the motor gulps air, hesitate, and then slowly accelerate. And can u tell me where I can get a good deal on the sensor. The dealer is asking for $168.04.
Thanks

You can get one here for like 109 http://thepartsbin.com/ and I know that JandR nissan are doing a 30% off sell for all nissan parts...if you contact them they might be able to get you a better price. Hope that helps
