Tachometer sticks at 2.5K

Folks,
This is my highly regarded place to see problems posted and solved. I have one problem and wonder if any of you can help me solve.
The tachometer of my car sticks to 2.5K when the engine is running and it's been like this for a month. The only time it goes to zero is when I shut off the engine. Can anyone shed some light on possible cause of this problem and the fixes?
Appreciate your help. The car is 95 MAXIMA GXE.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Have you changed your gauges or put some type of overlays on them, such as indiglos? If so, your needle is riding on the face where the tape/glue underneath is too thick.

No, I didn't put anything. The needle just sticks whenever the engine is running.

well if everything is factory either you need to replace the acutally tach gauge in the dash or the wiring is bad somewhere, more than likely u need a new tach gauge
