Just installed the Denso Platinum plugs this past weekend. Not a bad spark plug at all. About a month ago I installed the Bosch platinum’s, had them in there for about a week and didn’t like them at all. My engine light kept coming on! My mechanic did a computer check and didn’t find any codes. So I took out the Bosch plugs and went with the Denso Platinum plugs. Try them out you might like them!

Almost everyone (myself included) highly recommends the OEM NGK Platinums. They are, without a doubt, the best plug to use in the Maxima.

I, for one have doubts. Until someone shows me dyno's, I will not spend $12 for a spark plug.

I see your point. BTW, they are only about $8 per plug from Nissan dealers with the Org discount.

Maybe it's just my car, but I used to run Bosch's, but they would get burnt to a crisp after 10k. My NGK's are a totally different story.

Courtesy Nissan sells them in 6 packs for ~$56...

You can get them for about $7.00, where did you get the $12.00 number? I bought 30 NGK Laser Platinum Plugs (the OEM Plug on eBay) for a price of $6.00 plus $5.00 shipping for a total of $11.00. This was $11.00 for all the plugs not $11.00 each. That's about $.38 a piece. You just have to look around.

Given that the margin of dyno error will be around the same as the difference in HP a different set of plugs may have, it'll be real hard to show that proof

I agree. It's not really a power advantage that the NGK's have. It's just that the plug works better with our cars.

You can unload $500+ for leather, but you cant handle $60 or LESS for proper spark plugs?

Denso seems like they should be fine too, but I'll probably stick with NGK myself.

I use the proper plugs. Proper being the correct temperature range, thread pattern and thread length.

Until you quantify what is "improper" about Densos, Boschs, etc. I will continue to refuse to be ripped off by dealer prices. The fact that Karguy has gotten them for $0.38 a piece reinforces my position.

Or, look at it this way; I could also spend $60 for a Tornado intake. There is just as much proof (none) that it improves performance or reduces "drivability issues".

p.s., The leather was closer to $700

I just glanced at your post and didn't do the math, but sinewave's comment made me look back, and then I realized . . . Fantastic price! I think I paid $11 for one, yet you got all six for $11. Un-beleivable.

I tried to look for the NGK PLATs on Ebay, found 4 for a Honda Del Sol, that was it. Not even half.com had 'em

Just to re-iterate what Sryth said, the NGKs and the Maxima, un-beatable reliable combination.

Just keep watching. I got a 6 pack of NGK 'laser' platinums with shipping on ebay for $24 a few months ago. It was pretty obvious they were from some gross bulk buy since they didn't come in individual boxes.

But they aren't OEM. Won't I experience "drivability problems"?

Actually the opposite.. Copper plugs will increase drivabilty over Platinum plugs due to the fact that copper plugs provide a better spark.. not enough increase for you to notice by the seat of your pants but there is an increase. Copper plugs are even recommended more by Nitrous companies over Platinum plugs due to the fact they cause a better spark than platinum plugs.. most of the high horsepower guys on this board and even regulars use copper plugs.. theonly down side to copper plugs is that copper plugs last 30k and platinum last 60k so if you don't mind doing plugs then go copper.. if you are lazy like some people.. then pay more and stick with platinum

Check the link below on my website for the nissan part number
