car stuttering

I need some major help now. Ive been having this problem for so long now. I have a 1995 se 5spd and the car would intermitenly choke up on me when i take take off in gear. When i release the clucth and apply the gas the car will sometimes just start jumping like im a rookie stick driver. I would then step in the clutch the car will stop jumping but when i gas it in neutral i cant get it to go past 2500 rpm it would this for about 10-20 seconds then it will be normal again. I get no codes from the ecu. No cel on. Ive changed fuel filter, cleaned TB, replaced TPS and it is adjusted to the correct voltage. Used fuel injector cleaners. I'm just puzzled at what it could be cause it's so intermittant. I hear a lot about knock sensors going bad could that be my problem if so how would i check. I would appreciate all the help i can get.

Do you maintain ure car? Probably need new sparkplugs. Perhaps fuel filter too.

Meccannoble recently made a post about something like that... here's the link: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=151046

Check it out, you probably need new sparkplugs if you haven't changed them already. good luck

btw- the knock sensor could also be the problem... i'm just sayin to check out the fuel filter and spark plugs first because they are much cheaper to replace. good luck

Your MAF sensor is dying. The clue here is that when it happens your car will not go past 2500 RPM's. Thats limp mode and it's exactly what your car does when the MAF goes bad.

Are you sure you have no CEL on? Is the bulb ok? Does it light up when you turn your key to the on position? Check the ECU again for any codes, it should be saving the info on whats failing.

Now i need to check the codes.I was suspecting the MAF too but wasnt sure i know they are expensive would you recommend buying one from the junkyard if i need to?

I think I'd stick with a new one.

I got my replacement maf from a junkyard for $100 and I have no complaints. www.thepartsbin.com has them for $250 if you want a new one though.

On a 95, I'd replace both.

The facts:

1. You have a 95SE 5speed.
2. You replace the Knock Sensor.
3. You replace the MAF.
4. You change your Fuel Filter.
5. You get new plugs (NGK OEM).
6. You will be "oh so" fast. (0-60) 6.6 (1/4) 14.4-14.2

enjoy the ride.

I'd replace the MAF sensor first. The knock sensor code has been known to be triggered by other problems, most notably O2 sensors. After replacing the MAF (which you definitely have symptoms of - "limp mode"), reset the ECU. Drive around for a little while, then check codes again. You may not get a knock sensor code again. If you do, you can test it with a multimeter. DBM had a write up I believe, and it is easy to do (took me less than 5 minutes). Use the search for it (Can't believe I said use the search). If it tests bad, then replace it. Tustin Nissan and Courtesy Nissan both sell for a lot cheaper than most discount auto stores. I paid ~$130.00 at Courtesy. I don't know where to get a good deal on the MAF, but if you can afford it and you'll be keeping the car, I'd go with a brand new one.
