48 offset....will it work?

Is this wheel offset okay on a 99 max?

Just got a set of 17s. I told the shop that I needed something in the 38 - 45 offset range. Waited a month for these and they sent me a 48 offset.

Will it work or is it gonna stick out of the fender?
Need help yall!
Thanks.

I can't fully answer that question, but your worry should be about the wheel recessed too deep in the fender and not sticking out. A higher offset means that the wheel will be set deeper inside the wheel well and not the other way around.

No way!!! and where did you get your numbers from? you should use a 35-40 offset. 45 will work but that would be the extreme most you would want to go. Your wheels will be tucked under and will cause rubbing

a 48mm offset is not the most ideal. 35-40 is optimal.

Ok higher the numbers the more tucked in it would be. On my old maxima(99) I had the same rims I have on my 02 and there is no rubbing. The rims are 18-7.5 with a 45mm offset. I have seen with a 38 mm offset looks the best. Its flush with the body and etc... But the 48mm with work. If you want just get some 5-10mm spacers. There only about 40 bucks for all of them.

I have never seen anybody put 48s on a maxima - they won't fit well... 45 is pushing your luck (I know this first hand). and if you think spacers are safe then go for it...

How is 45mm pushing your luck? My stock wheels were 45mm. Look in your manuel, it says your stock offset.

Yeah!
And probably a little bit of Black BBQ paint on them too, huh?

I guess I'm returning these wheels for the right offset. Ain't gonna try my luck on these.

Thanks to all that replied.

45mm on 7" wide wheels. But if you increase the width of the rims, the offset will need to change to be optimal.

I am. I have 48mm 18x7.5 wheels with 5mm spacers so its now a 43mm offset. I only have the rear wheels on at this time because I dont have tires for the fronts and everything is fine. TurDz has 42mm offset wheels and he doesnt have any problems at all so I doubt 1mm more will affect anything. Just make shure you use the new longer wheel studs when you get spacers.

5mm is the point where some say get the longer studs, some say you dont need to. so i'm confused there

maybe its more trouble than its worth buying a wheel that far off spec. darn

I wouldnt even dare to ride on spacers without longer studs. H&R 5mm spacers come with the longer studs in the kit so its there for a reason.
