The rotors life all depends on the pad you use.
An agressive pad will shorten your rotors life.
Some pad manufactures will tell you how rotor friendly their pads are.
Are X-Drill and/or Slotted worth it? All depends on what you want out of your brakes. There's a thread on here that discusses that topic to death. Take a few minuts and read it. Then make your own decisions.
BTW - I'm running the Stillen X-Drilled Rotors and Axis Metal Master pads and absolutely love that setup.
