I was looking at the Motorvate.Ca write up and it looked doable but with the right equipment and time. Which I don't think I have or is capable of getting. Should I take it to a shop to get it fixed? How much should I expect to pay? Now for parts, what is the best to buy? Aftermarket brands? Should I buy the part and then take it to the shop and then give it to them to use???

Well u in some luck, i just replace my rear passenger side bearing about and hour ago. You cannot just get bearing you need to get the whole hub. I shopped around and the cheapest place is nissan. They will order it and it will come in about 2 days. 98 bucks. I had to get a grease cap too for another 10. At Advance auto they wanted 130 for the hub, Autozone, Napa, and two other local shops didnt even carry it. So just go to the closest Nissan place.
As for doing it yourself. It was extremely easy. Just take your time. The hardest part is getting the brakes and caliper off and then theres a big nut that you need to get off. Its very tight adn you mite not think it can possible come off but it can. You need a 30mm socket and a very durable ratchet. Oh and a hammer or small mall will help. You gotta hit that thing hard and it will come off. Then the hub slides off. Slide your new one on and then asseble everything back. And please dont forget to put your grease cap back on cuz thats why mine went out, some idiot left mine off.

 

motorvates article is specific to front bearings. the rear bearing is replaced as a unit with the hub. the front bearing can be replaced.
i removed the hub and took a nissan bearing to an auto parts store with machine shop services. they removed the old bearing and pressed in the new one for either 20 or 30 dollars. it was a while ago and i don't remember the exact price.
the instructions in your repair manuals will tell you to remove the abs sensor when removing the hub. DON'T DO IT!!!!!!
a layer of rust forms in the space around the sensor making it impossible to remove without damaging it. instead, follow the electrical connection from the sensor to its attachment above. disconnect the sensor from its harness and take the hub with sensor in place to machine shop.
the job took me an extra day and an extra 120 dollars because i followed the repair manuals instructions to remove the sensor from the hub.

when you replaced the rear hub you had no choice . you had to remove the sensor and place it on the new hub. my advice gives him a choice in doing the front bearing. perhaps i was the unlucky 1 in 100 but its an alternative to possibly damaging an expensive sensor.

 

Oh ok i see now i didnt knwo the front and rear were different.

 

Can someone list the exact tools I should use or the best to use??? Will any machine shop take out and put in new bearings in for me???
