Getting car aligned tommorow..few questions bout it

I just got new 18x8 2 piece rims... Can getting it aligned scratch the rims because it has a big lip which makes it hard for the machine to grip it or something because he needs to put the adapters on...this is what the guy was telling me? If this is the case should I put my old wheels back on and have it done? Also, one place says only the front end can be aligned and not the back on 97 maxima's and another place says all wheels can be done. Thannks for ur help

uh well u can get a 4 wheel aligment, you prob dont wanna take ur car to a place that said u CAN'T. However, the aligment shouldnt scratch your rims. If they do, well i think they will owe you some money

You dont need a 4-wheel alignment. There is no way to adjust the rear wheels. Yes, they have to measure the rears to set the fronts, but that's it. Don't pay more than $40. Also, make sure you get a before and after printout of the measurements and settings.

They will scratch your rims. Put your old ones on.

your old rims are 17x8. having the acar aligned with the 17's wont help much when you put on your 18s

Ok, I wanna switch my old rims now when I do the alignment. My old rims are 17's and new ones are 18's. Does that matter at all?

It doesn't matter if you put 15's, 16's, 17's, or 18's on when you have an alignment done - as long as they are the same overall (tire) diameter.

They are adjusting the tie rod ends and lower control arms, not the wheels.

The 4th/5th gen Maximas only have front alignment adjustments. Rears will be measured on the 4 wheel alignment, but if they are out of spec, you are out of luck since there are no manufacturers adjustments for the rears.

If you feel so uncomfortable with taking your fancy rims to the alignment, find a shop which does modifications for import cars and I'm sure they will know how to do the alignment without scratching your rims.
