Best way to fix a dented floorpan?

A long time ago, when I didn't know where the jack points were, I put one hell of a dent in the rear-passenger's floor pan. I put the jack stand on the big beam that runs up the entire length of the car (it looked strong enough ). Anyhow, under the weight of the car, the beam gave way, and totally lifted the floor pan. There's a V in the beam (where the stand was), and the floor pan is totally pressed up to the passengers seat. I'll try to get some pics up, if anyone wants to see them.

Is there any easy way to fix this, or can I totally replace it? I was thinking about going to town on it with a rubber mallet, to try to bang it back into place. Is this my best bet?
