Screwed Up Strut Bar Installation!!!

hey all,

i just got my RaceSonic FSTB today, and when i went to screw in the brackets, it would go, so i kinda tried to force them in.. and now it stripped the inside.. i screwed it up big time..

anyone know where i could get a strut bar, not in the mail though.. cause now i can't return this one..

i'm only out $35 bucks, which is fine, but it sucks too..

anyone have any suggestions??

the brackets are fine, just the bar..

thanks in advance..

check out some local speed/import shops... they should be able to order most anything for you. but atleast where i live, they are a rip off. i bought mine off of EBAY... fits great... looks good... and w/ shipping.. it was only $32. let me know if you want the seller.

Re: Screwed Up Strut Bar Installation!!!

i dont understand what your saying exactly.......are you talking about the sides of the bar where there is a thread to lead in the C connectors??? You can get a stillen fstb from most performance stores, but that will set you back about 200 bucks, you might be able to find generic brands as well for around 60.

yea, don't try a regular wrench. If its rusted to a certain degree you'll complete strip the bolt. A socket wrench will do the job and some use as much force as u must and it won't strip.....

unless u turn the wrong way

Yeah, the threaded part of the bar, where you put in the screws was stripped..

it's a big mess, and i don't feel like buying another one from those guys, cause they won't return my other one.. plus, when it came, it had some marks on it, and scratches, .. and with that and the stripped threads in the bar, i think that it was a used bar sent to me..

it sucks.. i'm not buying a STILLEN though.. i'm not spending $200, the generic ones are just fine.. i just need a new bar now.. with screws, cause my dad (who thinks he's Welder of The Year ) tried to file down and do stuff to the bar and screws... i thanks him for trying, but made it worse..

so i guess i have to search for another company..

thanks for the replies all, Hey JMAXIMA: BITE ME

later all..

Brian:

this is the first mod that i did with harold. we just put a socket on there on tugged. Harold got em off wiht a lot of work and pulling, but they do come off. piece of advice i've never tried: physics says that the longer your lever handle the easier it will be. so put a breaker bar over the socket and pull. if you cant get it, come over and we'll do it together.

Socket wrench would work
however I managed to strip a f-cking bolt even with that when i tried to remove my strut bar off my old maxima to put it on the new one.. Now i'm just going to have to buy a second strut bar.

Man, it seems like this mod was going to be the easiest, but I'm having second thoughts.

no, don't think like that.. it's not that hard....just got a mishap with the equipment on my part..

and getting off the strut bolts isn't that hard.. i got it off with no problems...it took a little tugging, but that was expected..

don't sweat it..
