i'm on the hunt for a new 4th gen (95-96 preferably)

being that i have my own audio system, friends selling black leather seats, spoilers aren't too expensive, my own rims, and an expert friend with clutches, what would be the best car to get?

i'm not too worried about mileage because maxima's tend to last close to 200,000 or more but i dont' want something like Biggie's album (ready to die). Plus i'm worried that i may get a car that has a dieing clutch and i dont' want to be burdened with having to change it. In either case, what u guys suggest would be best for me?

 

I'd try to find an SE (5spd of course) w/sunroof and manual climate control (I hear the auto climate control is nothing but trouble). As for the clutch, I'd swap out that OEM with an ACT anyway, so I wouldn't worry about wear. I'd go for a leather real leather interior (the door's won't be leather, otherwise)

cancel out the choice of finding a GLE and doing the conversion again....
because that would be straight out stupid.. no offense
a GLE would likely cost more than the other models.. then u tack on another 2 grand for a conversion..
why not find a fully loaded SE with even less miles and possibly better shape, with the 5 speed already on the car...

But, I'd do the same thing I did with my car.... SE.. under 120k miles.. under 8k... must have had a sunroof and a 5 speed... the rest of the things aren't important.. like climate control and power seats..

but just look for things in the car that you use most and that you feel you need more.

 

I personally love the GLE, although a 5 speed transmition is better....much better. I rather have the luxurious perks for a GLE and settle for an automatic tranny. Just my $0.02

 

the reason why i threw in the GLE and conversion thing is because its' so hard to find an SE 5 speed at a descent price, not even good. There are millions of GLE's and automatics out there for sale but no 5 speeds...as far as the doors are concerned, i don't really care if its leather or not and i can just take the ones out of mine right now and switch (if possible) or find someone who has them. But the climate control i have never had a problem with on my GLe and it looks so much better at night than the manual... but i guess my best bet is to go for a SE w/ sunroof and auto climate and descent to high mileage....

WHATS THE MAXIMUM MILEAGE U GUYS WOULD GET A MAXIMA WITH NOW? (used 4th gen that is)

 

I'd try and get a GXE 5 speed with the cold weather package (if that package was available with the gxe).

 

yeah dude screw the SE and GLE, just get a nice GXE 5 speed, and put your wheels on it, buy a spoiler, etc..

 

Look for a 5 speed I30, it'll will come with LSD and it will cost less than a Maxima. I bought a 97 for $1200 less than a comparable Max and it was an Infiniti certified used car with 37k. Also came with 7 year 100k extended warranty. Something to think about.

 

Why are you getting rid of your 4th gen to get another 4th gen?

 

my present 4th gen is trashed and just about totaled from an accident.

Infiniti? hmm...i really don't like the look of it vs the 4th gen max but i want DIGITAL CLIMATE CONTROL and i don't think it comes in GXE...even a high quality one (and sunroof) i need both of these

 

I30 and GLE Maxima come with the Digital Climate Control, GXE and SE w/o leather do not. Can't say for sure about SE with leather.

so my only options are SE w/ leather, sunroof, digital climate control....oh well...time to look at average prices now

 

hmmm, just looked up 95 w/ all good features except stereo and the price came up to 5500 w/ 110,000 miles....hmmm...this might turn out better than i thought

 

yeah, i have digital climate in my se with leather. i love it, makes your car feel much more expensive. ive had no problems with it, and i have a lot of miles. SE has better gauges too, and spoiler is already on there. i would buy an SE over any other model for sure.

now what color should i get...hmmm....i REALLY WANT BLACK w/ black interior but that's too hard to find.

I say black, dark blue, dark green, hmm...what else is a good color? i'm not feeling burgundy that much and i don't want ANOTHER beige max...white possibly
