Some posted that you can get Euro Maxima QX headlights from Europe and they would work a lot better than the US headlights with their crappy positioning and beams.

I saw a few models of the QX while in England...

It's really just an I30 with a different grille insert and a few badging changes. It has the I30's integrated hood/grille, the wraparound tailights, the one-piece headlights, and even the same rims as the I30.

You might want to check whether or not the performance of the QX headlights is really better than the US-issue I30. If not, you'd be better off just getting the I30 headlights and save a bundle on shipping.

I live in Holland; I'll try to find you a picture of a European Maxima and send it to you. There aren't to many Maximas over here. But the 4th generations one I have seen don't have a real pretty front end. I'll try to get you a picture soon.

If that is the case I don't think that the infiniti one piece will fit.

I30 lights different?

Are the previous generation I30 headlamps different than the gen 4 maxima's? What kind of bulbs do they use? I hate the 9004s.

I30,

The headlights on my 98 I30 look to be the same as 97-99 Max and I think 96-97 I30 headlights are the same 95-96MAx head lights, they also both use 9004 bulbs.I want the one piece headlights for my I30, I no it fits perfect on the I30 but I think because the Max's cornor lights are a little different in shape it will not fit with out modification on the max. Some one tell me were I can get these lights please.

Re: I30,

If the QX is the same as the US I30, does that mean that the Cefiro is exactly the same as the US I30??? I saw a J30 today, what engine does that have? Altima? I thought the Q20 had the altima engine?

the US i30/maxima uses the vq30de

i *think* japanese cefiro uses the vq20 and vq25's, the vq30's are reserved for the cedric/gloria in japan

the J30 uses the VG30DE (300zx n/a motor)

the q20.. do u mean G20? the g20 uses the SR20DE

the altima uses the KA24DE (same as the 240sx and 4 banger frontiers)

The Cima has the VQ30DE, the Cedric *hardtop* uses a VQ25, with an optional VQ30DE, the regular Cedric uses a 2.0, probably the SR20DE, an optional 2.8l and the VQ30, the Groria uses a 2.5l, with an optional VQ30, the Laurel uses a 2.0, 2.5, and 2.8, and the Cefiro uses a 2.0 and 2.5 motor. Must suck to have a 4 banger in the Max over there!

Over here, the 200sx and sentra both use a 1.8 and the SR20DE, the Altima, Xterra 4-cyl, and Frontier 4-cyl all use the KA24DE, the Maxima uses the VQ30DE-K, the Quest, 6cyl. Xterra, 6cyl. Frontier, and the pre 2001 Pathfinders all use the VG33DE, the 2001 Pathfinder uses the VQ35DE.

H.I.D. Kit !!!!!!!!!!!

I Think you can put a H.I.D. Kit on those Headlamps.
and plus there single pieced.

Maybe one day there will exist a retrofit HID kit for the Maxima (JC Whitney is already selling them for other cars). However, expect the price of this to exceed $1,000. One other thing you should know about HID lamps in the USA: in bad conditions like rain or fog, they actually hurt visibility because their bluish light is reflected off the moisture and causes glare. Euro-spec headlights don't have this problem because they have a sharp cutoff to not blind other drivers. However, USA DOT-approved headlights have a soft cutoff that glares upward (to light road signs ABOVE the roads; LAUGH). So if you do decide to spend the money to buy a HID kit, I propose a better use of your money: order a set of Maxima QX headlights from a European Nissan Parts Department. These should cost $400 for the pair but they will offer much better visibility than any USA-spec headlights. Also, because of the longitudinal filament used in the H4 bulb (used in the Euro-spec headlights), they respond much better to wattage increases, i.e. visibility improves a lot with wattage increases, whereas with USA-spec headlights a wattage increase usually will not grant you much better visibility

hey

why dont you try and get the QX headlights. I was interested in this before and couldnt locate a place to pick them up so i gave up. Im sure ALOT of people here are interested in getting rid of their 9004 headlight setup.

Re: I30,
