Question about swapping GXE gauges with OEM white gauges (odometer issues)
I will be putting in my OEM white gauge cluster soon (I received it the other day) and I have a question about the odometer. Is there a legal way to switch the odometers in a car (such as filling out some sort of form that tells what the mileage of the old odometer was and what the mileage of the new odometer is at the time of the swap)? Because people do this all the time. There has got to be some sort of form to fill out that tells the actual mileage of the vehicle. Because I don't want to run into any issues if I were to ever try to sell my car.
This is NOT a question of how to attempt odometer fraud... it is a question of how to go through the system legally and record the mileage at the time of the switch.

When I did my gauge cluster switch, I took the speedometer face off the old assembly and put the white face on, reinstalled it into the new cluster, and put it back in. Everything except for the speedometer/odometer assembly is from the new cluster, and with the original odometer in the car, paperwork isn't an issue.
