The Maxima I bought several months ago has an odd little quirk: the trunk opens using the remote, and the button inside the door, but is unresponsive to the key. Pretty much, when I insert the key, there is no way to move it, either left or right. I'm sure the previous owner did this as some sort of security mod, but it is very frustrating and I'm hoping that someone here has the answer. I would like to use the key, and ditch the old remote. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

You only got the Valet Key, either look on the key or call the 800 Nissan # see if you can get the key id #. That way you can get the master key made at the dealership.
