Hi...
I am looking @ a 98 "SE" at a dealer... he says its an SE yet, for 98 I know the std. SE wheels were 16" 5 spokes, this has the multi spoke GLE wheels, white gauges, this has none.... etc... I think it's a GXE and its in nice shape and I'd like to maybe burst his bubble and get it for a good price if its a GXE disguised as an SE becuase I can let them know its not worht as much as they think
thanks

Just say this. "SE's all have white face gauges, body color grill, body color door handles, factory spoiler which means one piece rear deck lid with no thrid brake light, 16" five spoke wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel, leather shift ****, fog lights, and sport tuned suspension. Your car has none of these features, yet you "claim" its an SE because it has the 95-96 SE wheels? Are you ignorant?"

He'll either kick you out or sell you the car cheap because he knows that you know its not an SE.

BTW, GLE's have leather, GXE's don't. Also, GLE's have wood grain that is factory, meaning that its not a "stick on" kit. Also, they have that really cool motorized looking drawer underneath the stereo.

This information comes from the '99 Maxima factory service manual.

Raise the hood. Look for a shiny metal identification tag fastened to the
passenger side of firewall. The top row is the Vehicle Identification
Number, starting with J. The second row is model information. The first
five characters are BLHUL. The sixth character is the trim level designator:
E = GXE
G = GLE
V = SE
