Funky 99 Brake quesdtion

My 99 Maxima (31K miles) does not stop smoothly. But it's not the side to side shake you get with warped rotors which you can feel uin the wheel.

Rather it is a non smooth deceleration, as if the brakes were not stopping smoothly. Hard to describe - its not abrupt, (like the ABS actuating) and is felt more on light pedal application and noticed below 20 MPH as the car stops.
Any ideas?????

Slightly warped front rotors can be the problem... as it gets worse, the vibration at the steering wheel will appear.

Well said Chunger.

Get yourself some aftermarket rotors and your brakes will be as smooth as silk. Nissan rotors are the pits.

You can go for the Stillen rotors if you want to get fancy. They have a whole brake upgrade package for just over 400 bucks that will give you new rotors and pads on all 4 corners. I've got that setup and there as smooth as silk and stop much better then the OEM brakes.

If you don't want to get too fancy with brake rotor replacement, but still want better than stock, you can get Brembo Blanks here;

You can also get them at www.foreignpartsplace.com (or www.jagworks.com , which I believe might be the same place). They charge a little bit more but the shipping is free, plus they also sell Brembo blanks for the rears. I ordered my rotors on Thursday afternoon, and I already received them the following Monday. That's with UPS ground shipping from Florida to Boston.

Just like stock. No slots, no holes, just a plain disc, or rotor. Perfect OEM replacement.
