Help! Buzzing noise from console after y-pipe install

I was just wondering if anyone had experienced this same problem- I searched, but couldn't find anyone describing this kind of noise. It's a loud, intermittent buzzing sound that comes from the lower center console- it seems to come from behind the ashtray. It really gets loud and buzzy under full throttle, and isn't heard at idle. I'd really appreciate any input anyone might have on this problem. Other than this, I love the Budget Y, it's a real kick in the pants. Thanks to all .org members for providing a superior Maxima owning experience! Peace.

IT's more than likely the hanger at the y pipe/cat convertor connection. If you did the install get back under the car, find the hanger I'm talking about and bend it in such a way that it won't hit anything. Remember, as you put a load on the engine it rocks backwards in the engine bay - pulling the exhaust slightly forward. Hope that makes sense. IF a shop installed it for you; take it back to them and let them bend the hanger out of the way.

ya, i had my installed the other day by a shop, and i took the car out, and just wailed on it...i was severly imprssed...then i wailed on it a little more, and then i heard a LOUD buzzing sound from the center console and was like WTF....so i went back, they hoisted it up on the lift, and i told em there was the heatshield from the cat, and they bent it outta the way and all was good
