Dude, don't do it. It does function, but not as well as they claim. It's a freaking spring block between your gears that locks them up under pressure. According to most of the guys who have tried it, it's hit or miss. Lots of times the unit wouldn't engage, and it tore up some differentials due to the design. It puts pressure on the stock spider gears, which isn't good for the longevity of those parts. I've heard this from the Celica guys, Honda people, and Celica owners who have all tried it. Not just like 1 or 2 people, but a good number who did try it. A lot of them ended up swapping out the phantom grip for a real lsd like the quaife, cusco, or kaaz.
BTW, email me because we are looking to do a 4th gen manual differential, and your car would be a good candidate since you've got plenty of power.

Yes, it does work. But it's also not very reliable, and isn't good for your factory differential. The cost difference between this and a real lsd is anywhere from $400-$700. Considering it will cost between $6-900 to install a differential, the cost savings aren't that great anymore. And if anything goes wrong, then you have to pull apart the diff again at great expense. Plus it's just a cheap knockoff of a clutch style differential anyways, just without the clutches which is the inherent problem.

Umm, it does work. It's a very good mod and has been used by pros for years. Get it, I saw it on EBAY a few months ago and it was only around $70(wish I bought it then). They work really great on Nissans(what I heard). In last month's SCC they have a SENTRA with a PAHNTOMGRIP diff and they give it praise...
