Axle/CV joint problems

I am working on changing my CV joint, the whole halfshaft not just the boot. It is driver's side. I searched and could not find relevant info for a 4th gen. I got upto the set of disconnecting my tie rod from my drive shaft. Now, I cannot get the axle out of the place it connects to the transmission. There is no c-clamp of any kind. The part I bought from Napa looks like this:

On the picture, the right side of the joint has to go into the car, but how do I remove the one already there, and put this in correctly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to use a crow bar to remove it from the car. if thats the problem your having. so stick in there carefully to damage one of the seals and just push on it and it should snap right off. Thats what I used when I installed a clutch last time in my garage.

thanks, I just finished now, my hands were black from ****, when I washed them water was beading on them like it does on oil. I got the axle off using a fat chisel and hammer. Guys, when doing it, make sure to have a bucket right under the car, because the transmission oil will start flowing and you better have something to catch it with! I have installed a lot of mods on my car, struts and springs, CAI, knock sensor, EGT sensor, full exhaust, alternator, this ties with the hatred of doing the alternator. At least, after doing it once, it will only take an hour or two next time.
