Brake question.....Need help please

What would make the brake light on the dash stay on? My wife was complaning that the brake warning light would come on in the mornings for about 10min then turn off. Today it stayed on all the way to work (1hr). I drove it all day yesterday and couldn't duplicate the problem. And she's not leaving the ebrake on. Does the master cylinder have a sensor that tells when brake fluid is low? I haven't checked that but I will tonight. I just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem. This is a 96. Thanks

If the brake light is on, either your e-brake isn't completely released or your brake fluid is low. The ABS system has a separate light for ABS problems.
